RIAS Phase I – Procure to Pay system replaced the nine-part, paper-based, manual requisitioning process at the university. Under this new process, authorized individuals are able to requisition goods and services directly from their desktops. The requisitions are electronically routed for approval and committed against general ledger account budgets or balances.
Under this new streamlined procurement process:
- employees have more authority and responsibility
- employees have easy access to online shopping and check requests
- employees have the ability to shop on selected vendor web sites at pre-negotiated prices
- employees are fully responsible for insuring that the requisition for goods or services is proper and that there are sufficient funds available to cover the expenditure
- employees have the responsibility to electronically acknowledge the receipt of goods and services before invoices are to be paid
- employees view accurate and up to date information in RIAS which helps to make well-informed buying decisions
- employees receive faster turnaround time of employee expense reimbursement
